Our Teachers
Our style of teaching in Australia may be different from what you are used to in your country. Ability Education teaches English using modern methods, based on current language learning research. Our teachers conduct classes in a friendly and supportive manner.

Recent research shows clearly that students learn English best in an atmosphere of friendly ease. Our dedicated, skilled and caring teachers provide a balance of work and fun in ways that encourage students to want to get involved in their lessons, boosting the rate at which they learn.Our teachers are mainly from Australia but they also come from other English speaking countries including the USA, Canada, England, Scotland, Ireland and New Zealand.

Students will likely have different teachers for some different sections of a course, minimising dependence on any one instructor, while ensuring students experience a range of personalities, accents and sources of inspiration. For example, students have one teacher for lesson 1 and 2 and a different teacher in lesson 3. As students go up a level, their teachers again change.
Our Teachers’ Qualifications
All our teachers at Ability Education are very well qualified. All are trained English teaching specialists with either a certificate in CELTA/ TESOL or a TESOL post graduate degree. They all have university degrees and a considerable percentage that have Post Graduate Qualifications specializing in language teaching.
Our Teachers’ Experience
The average experience for an Ability teacher is around 7 years. We choose teachers on a combination of their qualifications, experience and teaching style. If we come across a relatively new teacher who is very talented we will train and monitor this teacher closely, investing in their talent.
Our Teachers’ Nationalities
A large majority of our teachers are native speakers with backgrounds from Australia, Canada, UK, USA, Ireland, New Zealand and South Africaso students are exposed to a variety of English accents. We currently have several teachers whose first language is not English though it is very difficult to spot them! They are excellent teachers, extremely popular and are at an advantage of helping students with tricky grammar points as they themselves have overcome them
How we choose Ability Teachers
We look for teachers that have a naturally high skill level in the following three areas;
- striving talents (an individual that enjoys doing their best with a lot of energy),
- thinking talent (a creative and focused individual) and
- relating talents (a caring individual that enjoys helping other people achieve their goals.
We believe our team are dynamic, talented people who were born to teach.

I chose this school because when I visited, there was a friendly atmosphere. Now I am taking the Cambridge CAE course so I have to study intensively to pass the exam, but this course is also really useful for improving all my skills in English (speaking, listening, writing, reading and grammar). My teachers are very kind and teach very well so I am happy to be studying in this class. Also, my classmates come from different countries, and I'm enjoying learning about other cultures too."
