EAP - Course Overview

Our EAP course is a 10 week program that prepares students for studying at a university or specialised colleges. Students who complete our English for Academic Purposes course with the correct EAP mark can gain direct entry into our affiliated colleges and universities without having to do an IELTS test.

Course prerequisite:

Entry to the upper intermediate level:

  • IELTS test - students need an overall IELTS mark of 5.0, with no less than 5.0 in writing and reading with Listening and Speaking no less than an IELTS score of 4.5.
  • ABILITY ESP test - to pass Ability's entrance test.

Entry to the advanced level:

  • IELTS test - students need an overall IELTS mark of 6.0, with no less than 6.0 in writing and reading with Listening and Speaking no less than an IELTS score of 5.5.
  • ABILITY ESP test - to pass Ability's entrance test.

This course is for you if you need to build or reinforce important language skills needed to study in an English speaking vocational college or university.

EAP - Course Description

English for Academic Purposes is a course designed to equip students with the skills they need to successfully undertake any academic course from university level through vocational in an English-speaking country.

EAP levels:

Within EAP we have two different levels:

  • EAP Upper intermediate
    • for students with strong Intermediate / Upper-intermediate level of English and an IELTS mark of 5.0, with no less than 5.0 in writing and reading or
    • The appropriate results on the ABILITY Entrance test.
  • EAP Advanced
    • for students with strong Upper-intermediate / Advanced level of English and an overall  IELTS mark of 6.0, with no less than 6.0 in writing and reading or
    • The appropriate results on the ABILITY Entrance test.
