HSP - Course Description
Our High School Preparation course is designed for students who wish to develop English skills needed to study in an Australian high school from grades 7 to 11. In this course, students learn English and the Australian school culture and curriculum. Courses are structured in modules of 8 weeks, with the student completing a test at the end of each week to monitor student progress.
Our teachers have both the experience and qualifications for instructing overseas students for successful entry to high school. ABILITY Education’s Director of High School Preparation ensures ongoing communication with student’s parents (or other care-providers) about the young person’s progress.
Through their study of our college’s unique Pastoral Care program, students learn how to deal directly with personal, social and health related issues. The program focuses on developing students’ decision-making skills and the taking of personal responsibility for dealing with issues.

We prepare each student fully for an Australian high school, not only in terms of their English language skills but also their knowledge of key high school such subjects such as Science, Social Studies, Australian Studies, Mathematics and Geography. Students will advance their English language skills through developing their education in these important high school subjects.
ABILITY Education’s HSP program, just like a high school, has its rules and regulations that students must follow. This will prepare them for their future high school environment, giving them an understanding of their rights and responsibilities as a high school student. This will help them make an easier transition into the Australian public or private high school system.

Direct pathways into private and government high school
Through our High School Preparation Course students can gain direct pathways into all NSW Government High Schools and many reputable and prestigious private high schools.
Assistance with Application for High School
Students at ABILITY Education are assisted in making an informed choice about their prospective future high school, year of entry and commencement date. They receive assistance, in consultation with a student’s guardian or agent, in making their application to their chosen high school.
Students can also receive additional academic help, if required, to assist them in reaching the English language standard needed to commence high school. Students have the option of having regular progress reports forwarded to their prospective high schools as well as receiving assistance with preparation for interviews for chosen high schools.
