Writing essays in English can be challenging. Doing a presentation in English can be scary. Understanding the expectations in an English-speaking college or university can be confusing. In EAP we teach you how to do this so you are sure to succeed.
English for Academic Purposes will teach you to
- Write essays and argue in English
- Analyse statistics in English
- Reference and paraphrase in English
- Give academic presentations in English
- Take notes in lectures
- Read and understand academic writing
- Understand Australian university and college expectations
Direct pathway agreements
What is a direct pathway agreement?
If you get the score you need in our EAP course you can enter courses at our partner college or university without doing an English proficiency test because we have a direct pathway agreement together.

Entry Requirements
Entry to the upper intermediate level:
- IELTS test – students need an overall IELTS 5.5, with no less than 5.5 in writing and reading, and no less than 5.0 in speaking and listening.
- ABILITY ESP test – to pass Ability’s entrance test.
Entry to the advanced level:
- IELTS test – students need an overall IELTS mark of 6.0, with no less than 6.0 in writing and reading with Listening and Speaking no less than an IELTS score of 5.5.
- ABILITY ESP test – to pass Ability’s entrance test.
- If you are not sure of your level, you can book online for our entry test or if you are not in Australia we can send you or your agent an entry test.
