Ability Education sure knows how to throw a bash.

Last years Christmas Party took place at our beloved establishment Side Bar, had over 400 students attending, generous lucky door prizes including Playstations and shaking beats so the pressure was on for me to make an even bigger and better party. So, what was the verdict on this year’s party? Well, if all the whispers on and off campus are to be believed it royally kicked some butt!

We got a hot new venue

We got a hot new venue, The Gaff, which is spread over three main areas: outside courtyard, upstairs bar and downstairs disco and can accommodate approximately 600 people. The Gaff’s staff was wonderful as they are used to dealing with international students due to their regular Tuesday Backpacker Parties, so there was no rudeness at the door.

Students had many options on the night: drink, dance or eat. Why not all three!? For the affordable price of $5 you could buy a drink and get a buffet dinner plus a Santa hat! Happy Hour was delayed to 8.30pm til 9.30pm as apparently 7.30pm is way too early to start a party for Ability students. $3 drinks were enjoyed and used to warm everyone up for the live percussion performance by our favourite DJ/Drums duo: The Franchi Bros. Soon all the dance floor was a blur of happy smiling faces decked out in Christmas colours under large shiny disco balls or on the podium.

At around 11pm the lucky draw prizes were given out to the many lucky winners who had the lucky numbers. Prizes varied from Holidays to digital cameras to MP3 players to shopping vouchers at Myers! Then the resident DJ took over for more dancing until the early hours or more exactly when the bright lights were put on and an announcement was made that the club was closing. I hear that the party animals that still had energy continued onwards at the Three Monkeys.

Overall, I feel that the love in the air, the euphoria was felt and enjoyed by everyone. So, I guess it’s time for me to start organising the next party. Keep March free guys as the Love Boat is comiiiiinnnnggggg!
